My 12-Week year Starts in 20 Days. (but first the laundry. And NOLA)

A few years back, I discovered the book: The 12-Week Year: Get More Done in 12 Weeks Than Others Do in 12 Months. And I got it. Not just the book but the message. I was all in; I made plans. I set goals.

And then? Nothing happened.

More on that later, but bottom line: Procrastination: the struggle is real.

Big picture book concept: If we are given whole year to reach our goals, we will use the entire 12 months to make shit happen. Meaning? If we have only three months to achieve the same goals, we will start earlier and be more focused and efficient — allowing us to get 4x more done each calendar year.

I’m going to (finally) make the big push on April 1, 2022, to start a 12-week year. In preparation, I will spend the next 20 days creating a foundation to give those 12 weeks an actual shot at measurable achievement.

That said, I’ve learned there needs to be one other ingredient in my success recipe.

Room to play. I’ve learned that if I’m all stick and no carrot, the rebel side of my personality will throw in the towel on all of it. And so, in amongst the laundry and the teachers’ notes (so many messages from the teachers…), and the junk drawer organizing, I will spend six days (alone 😳 ) in New Orleans, LA.

Where yes, in between visiting art galleries, museums, eating and lounging by the pool reading novels set in NOLA (currently taking recommendations), I will post my daily 🚢 #Ship30 essay.

Because during a war, in a pandemic, between the teachers’ notes and the laundry — there has to be a seed planted, a connection made each day, for me.

I’m worth it. And so are you.
